Mount Carmel Central School Marks Ambedkar Jayanti with Inspiring Student-Led Tribute
Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School observed Ambedkar Jayanti on Tuesday, April 14, with a series of meaningful programmes that paid tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of justice and equality.
The celebration featured active participation from students of both primary and secondary sections. The secondary and senior secondary students conducted the programme in Hindi, reflecting unity and respect for cultural values. The event was thoughtfully organized by Grade IX students, showcasing their dedication and enthusiasm.
The assembly began with an all-faith prayer, fostering harmony and inclusivity. A floral tribute was offered to Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait by Vice Principal Sr Teena, teachers Silvia and Nupur, and student representatives K. Ananya Achar and Pranav Kotekar. A patriotic song by students added to the spirit of national pride.
Students highlighted the significance of the day by speaking about Dr. Ambedkar’s life, struggles, and immense contributions to the nation. This was followed by a solemn recitation of the Preamble to the Constitution by Daivik K Bangera, reinforcing the core values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Principal Sr Teena encouraged students to uphold these values in their daily lives and emphasized the transformative power of education in building a just society.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ambika Dutta and Andria Saldanha, followed by the National Anthem, leaving a lasting impression of unity and social responsibility.
Meanwhile, campers from KG to Grade V celebrated the occasion with a vibrant programme in the auditorium. The session began with a prayer song and a welcome address by Rishel Pinto. Students Thasmayee and Loy highlighted the importance of the day, introducing young learners to Dr. Ambedkar’s remarkable life and contributions.
A floral tribute was offered by Administrator Sr Carissima, dignitaries, and camp representatives. Teacher Reshma Aneesh delivered an insightful message, urging students to understand and practice Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals in everyday life.
The event was compered by Kiara, Mitchelle, Kellon, Meera, Jeev, Sathvik, and Ashlyn, and concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Petrina Lobo.
