Loretto Church Observes Laudato Si’ Sunday 2026 with Rainwater Harvesting Awareness and Demonstration

Bantwal, July 19: Loretto Church organised Laudato Si’ Sunday 2026 along with an awareness programme and live demonstration on rainwater harvesting on Sunday, July 19.

The programme was jointly organised by the Parish Environmental Commission, Youth Commission, ICYM, and Catholic Sabha. Resource person Chandappa Moolya conducted an informative session and demonstrated practical methods of rainwater harvesting, highlighting its importance in water conservation and environmental protection.

Speaking on the occasion, Parish Priest Rev. Fr. James D’Souza explained the significance of Laudato Si’ Sunday and stressed the need to care for creation by adopting sustainable environmental practices.

Among those present were Rev. Fr. Jason Monis, Principal; Isaac Vas, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council; Alwyn Pinto, Secretary; Sachin Noronha, Coordinator of All Commissions; Richard Miranda, Convener of the Environmental Commission; Jason Fonseca, Secretary of the Youth Commission; and Shaina Rodrigues, President of ICYM.

The programme concluded with a tree-planting ceremony, symbolising the parish’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The event was compered by Maria D’Souza.
