St. Aloysius PU College Organises Empowerment and Awareness Session for Girl Students
Mangaluru, July 2026: St. Aloysius Pre-University College organised an Empowerment and Awareness Session for its first-year PU girl students at Loyola Hall under the aegis of the Nari Shakti Association (Women’s Forum). The programme aimed to empower young women with the knowledge, confidence, and values required to make informed decisions, uphold self-respect, and lead safe and responsible lives.
The resource person, Ms. Jennifer Carlo, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences, conducted the session with warmth and professionalism. Drawing upon her expertise in clinical psychology, student counselling, and mental health, she addressed issues that are particularly relevant to young women as they transition into college life.
During the interactive session, Ms. Carlo encouraged students to value themselves, establish healthy personal boundaries, and make wise choices in their relationships and daily interactions. Emphasising the importance of personal safety in both physical and digital environments, she advised students to exercise caution while using social media and strongly cautioned them against sharing personal or private photographs online. She also urged them to seek timely guidance from parents, teachers, mentors, or other trusted adults whenever they encountered challenges or difficult situations.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kiran Shetty, Dean of Science, highlighted the importance of discipline, responsible conduct, and personal integrity. He encouraged the students to reflect on the valuable insights shared during the session and incorporate them into their daily lives to promote holistic growth and well-being.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, who actively engaged in discussions and benefited from the practical guidance offered. The session created greater awareness about personal safety, emotional well-being, digital responsibility, and the importance of making thoughtful and informed life choices.
The programme concluded on a positive note, leaving the participants better equipped to navigate college life with confidence, responsibility, and resilience.
The event was coordinated by Ms. Deepthi Rani M. K., Ms. Bhavyashree, and Ms. Amanda Reem Rodrigues of the Nari Shakti Association.
