SJEC Celebrates Hostel-Fresher’s Day & Send-off Program with “Hostel Fiesta 2025”
Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, hosted the much-awaited Hostel Freshers’ Day and Send-off Program, “Hostel Fiesta 2025”, on 16 November 2025 at 5:30 pm in the college basketball court. The event brought together freshers, seniors, faculty members and administrators for an evening filled with celebration, gratitude and fond memories.
The programme was convened by Ms Madhavi Gatty, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, with Mr Ruben and Ms Frenny serving as student coordinators.
The celebration began with a prayer and a formal welcome address, followed by lively cultural performances by the first-year students. Principal Dr Rio D’Souza delivered an inspiring message to the gathering. A heartfelt toast raised by Ms Frenny was warmly acknowledged by senior representatives Sabin and Shebha, adding emotional depth to the ceremony.
Highlighting the strong bond shared within the hostel community, the fourth-year students presented a nostalgic cultural segment that reflected their memorable journey and cherished experiences at SJEC.
As part of appreciating student excellence, awards were presented in three distinguished categories:
- Outstanding Achievers in Academics
- Outstanding Achievers in Sports
- Hostel Leadership Award
Separate recognitions were given to boys and girls from each branch.
Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC, addressed the gathering with an encouraging message, commending the achievements, involvement and leadership of hostel students. One of the most touching moments of the evening was the screening of the farewell video, capturing cherished hostel memories and highlighting the emotional journey of the graduating batch.
Cultural performances by the second- and third-year students further energized the atmosphere, adding to the spirit of celebration.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a delicious dinner and a lively DJ session, giving students and staff a chance to unwind and celebrate together.
Hostel Fiesta 2025 proved to be a joyful and memorable gathering, strengthening the bond between freshers, seniors, faculty and management while celebrating unity, gratitude and the vibrant spirit of hostel life at SJEC.
