A Home Built on Compassion: Jeppu Parish Inaugurates House for a Needy Family
Mangaluru: In a remarkable gesture of faith, compassion, and community spirit during the Jubilee Year, the parish community and the St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) Unit of Jeppu Parish, under the visionary leadership of Rev. Fr. Maxim D’Souza, successfully fulfilled the dream of building a home for a deserving family in need.
On 19 May 2026, the newly constructed house was solemnly blessed and officially handed over to Mr. Jossy Penha, Mrs. Bindu Penha, and their daughter, Ms. Jenifer Penha, amid an atmosphere filled with joy, gratitude, and celebration.
The construction of the 740-square-foot house commenced in November 2025 and was completed in May 2026. What began as a humble dream soon transformed into a beautiful reality through the generous support and goodwill of numerous benefactors and well-wishers.
A major contribution towards this noble project was made by Mr. Leo and Mrs. Trinita D’Souza of Jeppu Parish. The Sisters of Charity, Infant Mary Convent, and Holy Rosary Convent, Jeppu, also extended their wholehearted support to the initiative. Significant contributions were further made by entrepreneur Mr. Michael D’Souza and CODP. Alongside them, many generous donors and parishioners joined hands to ensure the successful completion of the project.
The SVP Unit of Jeppu Parish, under the leadership of Mr. Denis Apos and Mrs. Gretta Carvalho, played a vital role not only through financial assistance but also through tireless dedication and active involvement in mobilising resources and coordinating the work throughout the project period. Their unwavering commitment reflected the true spirit of service and Christian charity.
The inauguration and blessing ceremony was led by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Maxim D’Souza, whose inspiration and guidance were instrumental in bringing this humanitarian mission to fruition. During the occasion, all donors and contributors were felicitated with heartfelt gratitude for their generosity and kindness.
The programme concluded with refreshments being served to all those present.
The parish community remains deeply thankful to every donor, volunteer, and supporter who contributed towards this noble cause. Their generosity has not only built a house but also restored hope and dignity to a family in need.
