MCC Bank Shifts Morgansgate Branch to New Premises, Announces Expansion Plans

Mangaluru, July 25: MCC Bank Ltd. shifted its Morgansgate Branch to its new premises on the Ground Floor of H.H. Diamond City Building, Marnamikatte Road, Mangaluru, on Saturday, coinciding with the completion of the branch’s 31 years of customer service.

The inaugural programme was presided over by Sahakara Ratna Shri Anil Lobo, Chairman of MCC Bank. The new premises were blessed by Rev. Fr. Rithesh Rodrigues, Parish Priest of St Rita Church, Cascia. The safe deposit locker facility was inaugurated by former MCC Bank Director and former Mangaluru City Corporation Corporator James Victor D’Mello, philanthropist and playwright Francis Fernandes Cascia, and Krishna Bindumane, Proprietor of Health Mart, Mangaluru, who attended as guests of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman Anil Lobo thanked the directors, management, staff, customers and well-wishers for their continued trust and support. Describing MCC Bank as a true “Bank of the People,” he said the institution, founded before India’s Independence, has built a strong legacy of trust and service over the decades.

Highlighting the bank’s recent achievements, he said MCC Bank has recorded significant growth across Karnataka over the past eight years while maintaining sound banking parameters, including Non-Performing Assets (NPA), Loans and Advances, CASA, Deposits, Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR), Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) and Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio. Among Karnataka’s 262 Urban Cooperative Banks, he said, MCC Bank is the only cooperative bank offering specialised NRI banking services, with NRE deposits crossing ₹100 crore.

Lobo also announced that the bank’s 23rd branch will be inaugurated at Katpadi on August 2, with plans to expand the network to 25 branches before the end of the current financial year. He further revealed that MCC Bank is planning to introduce UPI services by December 2026, enabling customers to access faster and more convenient digital banking facilities.

He assured customers that deposits remain protected under the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) scheme and reiterated the bank’s commitment to prompt, efficient and customer-friendly service. He also urged customers to become ambassadors of the bank by encouraging others to transact with MCC Bank.

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Rithesh Rodrigues congratulated the Chairman, Board of Directors, management, staff and customers on the relocation of the branch. Stressing the values of unity, harmony and collective progress, he said he had personally witnessed the bank’s remarkable growth over the past few years and wished the institution continued success.

Guest of Honour James Victor D’Mello recalled MCC Bank’s journey since its establishment in 1912 and observed that while growth had been gradual during its first 106 years, the period since 2018 had witnessed extraordinary transformation. He noted that the bank’s business turnover had increased from ₹500 crore to ₹1,565 crore while six new branches had been added during the period. He credited the dynamic leadership of Chairman Anil Lobo, supported by the Board, management, staff and customers, for ushering in what he described as the bank’s “golden era.”

He also commended MCC Bank for recognising academic excellence and social service through scholarships, charitable initiatives, donations and sponsorships.

Francis Fernandes Cascia congratulated the Chairman, Board of Directors, management and staff, attributing the bank’s success to the confidence and support of its customers. Krishna Bindumane, a long-standing customer, appreciated the bank’s customer-friendly approach and congratulated the management on achieving another significant milestone.

During the programme, academic achievers Karen D’Cruz and Kinara D’Cruz were felicitated for their outstanding educational accomplishments. Former Morgansgate Branch Manager Jacintha Serrao was honoured on the occasion of her birthday in recognition of her dedicated service to the bank. Social achievers James Victor D’Mello and Francis Fernandes Cascia were also felicitated for their contributions to society.

The programme began with a devotional prayer song by the bank staff, followed by the screening of a documentary highlighting MCC Bank’s history, achievements and future vision.

Among those present were Directors David D’Souza, Melwyn Vas, Anil Patrao, Roshan D’Souza, Irene Rebello and Felix D’Cruz, Professional Director C.G. Pinto, General Manager Sunil Menezes, officers, staff, customers and well-wishers.
