St. Sebastian Church Holds Candlelight Prayer Vigil Seeking Justice for NEET 2026 Students
Mangaluru, July 25: The Youth Associations and various Commissions of St. Sebastian Church, Bendur, organised a Silent Candlelight Prayer Vigil on Saturday evening in solidarity with students affected by the alleged irregularities in the NEET 2026 examination.
Held in front of the church at 6 p.m., the gathering expressed support for students seeking justice and condemned the reported use of force against peaceful protesters. Special prayers were also offered for the eternal repose of those who reportedly lost their lives in connection with the NEET controversy, and for strength and justice for their bereaved families.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Souza, Parish Priest, called for justice, honesty and transparency in the education system. He stressed that every hardworking student deserves a fair opportunity and urged the faithful to pray for truth, justice and the future of the nation’s youth.
A large number of youth, religious sisters, parents, parishioners and members of various parish associations participated in the peaceful vigil. Holding lighted candles, the participants observed a period of silence and prayed in support of students seeking justice.
The programme concluded with a prayer for peace, wisdom and fairness, reaffirming the parish community’s commitment to stand in solidarity with students and uphold the values of justice and integrity.
