Lourdes Central School Holds Meeting for Private School Vehicle Drivers and Owners
Mangaluru, July 23: Lourdes Central School, Bejai, organised a meeting for private van, mini-bus, Tempo Traveller and auto-rickshaw drivers and owners engaged in transporting students to the school. The meeting was held in the school conference room on July 23.
The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr. Stany Pereira, Manager and Correspondent of Lourdes Central School. Rev. Fr. Johnson Lawrence Sequeira, Principal, led the proceedings, while Mr. Vijayaraj, Sub-Inspector of Traffic Police (East Division), participated as the resource person. Mr. Rohan Sequeira, who oversees the school’s transport operations, coordinated the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Vijayaraj highlighted the importance of road safety and urged drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules while transporting schoolchildren. He stressed the need to prioritise the safety of children up to 18 years of age, with special attention to the safety of girl students. He also cautioned drivers against using mobile phones while driving, carrying more passengers than the permitted capacity, and neglecting mandatory vehicle documents such as insurance and emission certificates. He explained the legal consequences of traffic violations and appealed to the drivers to maintain the highest standards of safety and responsibility.
In his address, Rev. Fr. Stany Pereira emphasised the importance of responsible driving, strict compliance with traffic regulations, and ensuring the safety of every child. He also assured the drivers and vehicle owners that the management remains committed to addressing their welfare and concerns.
Principal Rev. Fr. Johnson Lawrence Sequeira appreciated the dedicated service rendered by the drivers and owners in ensuring the safe transportation of students. He commended their cooperation and urged them to continue maintaining high standards of discipline and responsibility.
During the interactive session, the drivers and vehicle owners were given an opportunity to present their suggestions and concerns, which were heard by the school management.
The management thanked all the participants for their cooperation and arranged refreshments for the drivers and owners. The meeting concluded with a prayer.
