St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) to Host Three-Day Monsoon Theatre Festival 2026
Mangaluru: The Ranga Adhyayana Kendra (Centre for Theatre Studies) of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, will organise the Monsoon Theatre Festival 2026, a three-day celebration of theatre, music, and dance, from 17 to 19 July 2026.
The festival will showcase a diverse range of performances, including children’s theatre, dance theatre, musical theatre, and contemporary drama, offering audiences an enriching cultural experience.
The festival will open on 17 July with the children’s play “Manavapura,” presented by participants of the Ranginata Theatre Camp of Arehole Pratishthana. This will be followed by the dance theatre production “Barkurina Hadg” by Nandagokula Kalavidaru.
On 18 July, audiences will witness the musical theatre production “Ragasandhana,” conceived by Dr Ravindra Gururaj Katoti and directed by Vidwan Korgi Shankaranarayana Upadhyaya. The production will feature renowned Hindustani vocalist Sri Sidhartha Belmannu, who will both sing and perform in the play.
The festival will conclude on 19 July with the contemporary play “Angara,” written by Usha Kattemane and directed by Abhinav Grover, to be presented by Punah Theatre, Manipal.
All performances will be staged at the LCRI Auditorium of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, beginning at 6.30 p.m. each evening. Entry to all performances is free.
The festival is being organised in collaboration with Arehole Pratishthana, Astitva (Regd.), Mangaluru, the Department of Kannada, and the Centre for Language and Cultural Studies.
The Centre for Theatre Studies has invited theatre lovers, students, and members of the public to attend the festival and experience three evenings of quality theatrical performances.
