St Philomena College Students Urged to Lead Sustainable Lives on World Population Day
Puttur, July 11: The Department of Humanities at St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, observed World Population Day with a programme highlighting the socio-economic implications of global demographic changes and the importance of sustainable living.
Presiding over the programme, Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro urged students to reflect on the challenges posed by the rapidly growing global population. He emphasised the need to adopt sustainable lifestyles and encouraged students to become agents of positive change and responsible role models within their communities.

The keynote address was delivered by Vasudeva N., Head of the Department of Economics, who presented an insightful analysis of the current global demographic scenario. He highlighted the growing pressure that rapid population growth places on natural resources, infrastructure, and the environment, and encouraged students to engage critically with these challenges while contributing towards sustainable development.
The programme was attended by faculty members, including Captain Johnson David Sequeira, Head of the Department of Sociology.
Fathimath Rifa (III BA) welcomed the gathering, Avinash (III BA) proposed the vote of thanks, and Harshitha P. V., Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, compered the programme.
