Lourdes Central School Organises Art Integrated Project on the Theme ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’
Mangaluru, July 2: Lourdes Central School successfully conducted an Art Integrated Project on June 30, 2026, for students of Grades I to XII based on the theme ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.’ The initiative aimed to promote experiential learning by integrating art with academic subjects while fostering an appreciation of India’s rich cultural diversity.
As part of the programme, students explored the cultural heritage, traditions, and geographical features of the paired states of Karnataka and Uttarakhand through a variety of creative and curriculum-based activities.
Each grade participated in an age-appropriate art-integrated activity designed to complement classroom learning. Grade I students took part in an individual activity, while students from Grades II to XII worked in groups of five to six members, encouraging teamwork, collaboration, and peer learning.

The activities included:
- Grades I & II: Colouring activities depicting the birds and animals of Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
- Grade III: Picture pasting of famous monuments and tourist attractions of Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
- Grade IV: Collage making on the landforms of Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
- Grade V: Cooking without fire, showcasing the culinary heritage of Karnataka with reference to its weather and climate.
- Grade VI: Fancy dress presentations highlighting the traditional attire and ornaments of Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
- Grade VII: Poster making on the culture and traditions of Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
- Grade VIII: Collage making depicting the festivals of Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
- Grades IX–XII: Cooking without fire, presenting a culinary fusion of Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
The multidisciplinary project enabled students to express their understanding of academic concepts through various forms of artistic expression while integrating knowledge from different subjects.
The activities were thoughtfully connected with several academic disciplines. In English, students enhanced their reading, writing, speaking, and presentation skills by discussing the theme and explaining their artwork. Mathematics concepts such as shapes, symmetry, patterns, proportion, and geometry were applied during the creative process. Science helped students understand topics related to the environment, natural resources, plants, animals, colours, materials, and scientific principles. Through Social Science, students explored history, geography, culture, heritage, traditions, and civic awareness. Art Education encouraged creativity through drawing, painting, colouring, design, and craft. In Information Technology, students used digital tools for research, collected images, prepared presentations, and generated QR codes for their digital presentations. Environmental Education highlighted the importance of conservation and sustainability, while Value Education promoted teamwork, cooperation, creativity, confidence, respect for others’ ideas, and appreciation of cultural diversity.

Students participated enthusiastically, displaying remarkable creativity, imagination, and teamwork throughout the project. The activities helped them develop a deeper understanding of India’s cultural richness while encouraging collaborative and experiential learning.
Teachers guided the students at every stage, ensuring that the learning objectives were effectively achieved while making the experience enjoyable and engaging.
The Art Integrated Project concluded successfully with active participation from students across all grades. It provided a joyful and meaningful learning experience, reinforcing the importance of integrating art into education for the holistic development of every learner.
