St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur Concludes Six-Day Student Induction Programme
Puttur, July 8: St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, concluded its six-day Student Induction Programme for first-year students, aimed at familiarising newcomers with the college environment, academic expectations, institutional values, and the campus code of conduct.
The concluding day’s programme began with a prayer by students Nishitha Kaveramma and Thanmaya, followed by a welcome address. It featured three sessions focusing on discipline, personal well-being, and peer learning.
Dr Malini K., Dean of Science, conducted the first session on the Code of Conduct and Institutional Policies, emphasising discipline, ethics, and the rules governing campus life.
The second session, “Personal Development and Emotional Well-being,” was led by Mrs Srimani and Mrs Prathibha, Assistant Professors in the PG Department of Social Work. They guided students on emotional well-being, self-development, and strategies for successfully adapting to college life.

The third session, titled “Peer Inspirations: Unlocking Potential Through Experience,” featured senior B.Com students Sangeetha and Vishnujeeth, who shared their personal experiences and encouraged the newcomers to make the most of their college years.
The induction programme concluded with an address by the Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who urged students to embrace curiosity, uphold integrity, and remain committed to disciplined hard work. He encouraged them to make the best use of every opportunity to learn, grow, and serve society with compassion and excellence.
“Remember, the college is your partner in this journey. Seek guidance, stay resilient, and make these years count,” he said.
Dr Edwin S. D’Souza, IQAC Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks, while the programme was compered by Mrs Swathi Shetty D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce.
