Grade I Students Enjoy Activity-Based Learning at Mount Carmel Central School
Mangaluru: The Grade I students of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, enthusiastically participated in a series of fun-filled, hands-on learning activities across various subjects, making learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
In English, the students identified and sorted nouns into people, places, animals, and things, and learned to distinguish between common nouns and proper nouns.
Hindi learning became engaging through picture clues, as students formed words and reinforced their learning by writing them in trays filled with rice flour.
In Kannada, creativity blossomed as the children traced letters with flowers and matched picture cards to their corresponding initial letters.

Interactive matching activities in Environmental Studies (EVS) helped students understand the five sense organs and explore how each one enables us to observe and interact with the world around us.
Using an abacus and pebbles, the young mathematicians developed a clear understanding of place value by representing hundreds, tens, and ones. These activities enabled them to visualise numbers, strengthen their number sense, and build confidence in working with place values.
The engaging, activity-based experiences nurtured curiosity, strengthened conceptual understanding, and transformed learning into an enjoyable journey for every child.
