St. Paul’s Schools Celebrate First-Ever Grandparents’ Day with Love and Gratitude

Belagavi, July 26: St. Paul’s High School, St. Paul’s Jesuit School and St. Paul’s Sunbeam Nursery School celebrated Grandparents’ Day for the first time, honouring grandparents for their invaluable role in nurturing families and preserving values, traditions and faith.

The celebration brought together grandparents, grandchildren, parents, teachers and well-wishers, creating a memorable occasion filled with love, gratitude and togetherness.

The programme began with an inter-religious prayer, followed by a ceremonial lamp-lighting and a traditional welcome in which grandparents were greeted with flower petals as a mark of respect and appreciation.

At St. Paul’s Jesuit School, the chief guest, Mr. George Fernandes, highlighted the vital role grandparents play in shaping the character of children by passing on faith, culture, values and life lessons. He encouraged families to spend quality time with their elders and cherish their wisdom.

At St. Paul’s Sunbeam Nursery School, Mr. Victor D’Souza, the chief guest, described grandparents as the strongest foundation of every family, built on love, sacrifice and prayers. He urged children to honour and care for their grandparents with affection and gratitude.

Students of Inigo Playschool, St. Paul’s Sunbeam Nursery School, and the LKG and UKG classes of St. Paul’s School entertained the gathering with colourful dances, melodious songs and cultural performances dedicated to their grandparents. Their heartfelt presentations received warm appreciation from the audience.

One of the highlights of the programme was the sharing of experiences by grandparents, many of whom expressed gratitude to the management for organising such a meaningful event. Several described it as one of the most memorable days of their lives and appreciated being honoured in a unique manner.

Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Eric Mathias, SJ, Principal, thanked the grandparents for their unconditional love, sacrifices and unwavering support in nurturing generations with wisdom, compassion and faith. He remarked that while parents build homes, grandparents build hearts by keeping families rooted in love, tradition and values.

As a token of appreciation, certificates were presented to all the grandparents. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by refreshments and an informal gathering where families spent quality time together.

The inaugural Grandparents’ Day celebration marked a significant milestone in the history of St. Paul’s institutions, reinforcing the importance of respecting elders and strengthening the bond between generations.
