Feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary Celebrated at Paldene Church

Mangaluru: The Feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary was celebrated with great devotion and solemnity at St Theresa Church, Paldene, on August 15.

The Holy Mass was offered by Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, the parish priest. In his homily, he reflected on the life of Mother Mary, saying that as the mother of Jesus Christ, she not only fulfilled her duties as a mother but also responded compassionately to the sufferings and needs of the people around her. Catholics believe that Mary was assumed into heaven, body and soul, and continue to have faith that she intercedes for our needs from her place in heaven, he said.

Rev. Fr Roshan Pinto concelebrated the Holy Mass.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the parish community gathered in the church premises to mark India’s Independence Day with a ceremonial flag hoisting.
