IGNITE – YOUCAT Study Session Strengthens Faith Among Young Catholic Students
Mangaluru, July 12: The IGNITE – YOUCAT Study Session, organised by the Young Catholic Students (YCS), Diocese of Mangalore, in collaboration with YOUCAT Mangalore India (Mangala Jyothi), was held on Sunday, 12 July 2026, at Shanthikiran Hall, Bajjodi, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The programme commenced with an introductory prayer, followed by a thought-provoking session on the Catechism of the Catholic Church by Rev. Fr Roshan D’Cunha, Director of YCS, Diocese of Mangalore. In his address, he emphasised the importance of the Catechism in nurturing a mature Christian faith and encouraged participants to embrace the teachings of the Church as a guiding force in their daily lives.
The keynote YOUCAT study session was facilitated by Ms Jia Menezes, who presented the Catholic faith in a simple, engaging, and interactive manner using the YOUCAT (Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church). Her session inspired participants to deepen their relationship with Christ, strengthen their understanding of the faith, and become committed witnesses of the Gospel in their schools, families, and communities.
The programme also featured dynamic group activities that fostered collaboration, leadership, critical reflection, and active participation. These interactive sessions provided participants with meaningful opportunities to share their insights, deepen their faith, and strengthen their sense of unity and fellowship.
The programme concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, leaving the participants spiritually renewed, enriched in faith, and inspired to continue their journey with the YCS motto: “Join. Learn. Grow. Ignite Your Faith.”
