St Agnes College Inaugurates Student Cabinet for Academic Year 2026–27
Mangaluru, July 13: St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, inaugurated its Student Cabinet for the academic year 2026–27 on Monday, 13 July 2026, at the Mother Mary Aloysia Auditorium. The inaugural ceremony, held under the theme “The Voyage to Excellence,” was graced by Mr Eshwar Shetty, Founder of Yatharth Social, Mangaluru, as the Chief Guest.
The programme commenced with a prayer song invoking God’s blessings, followed by a welcome dance. Mrs Helen Serrao, Head of the Department of Chemistry, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. The ceremony was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
A total of 37 students from the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were sworn in as members of the Student Cabinet for the academic year 2026–27 by the Principal, Sr Dr M. Venissa A.C. The newly elected council is led by Ms U. Akshatha N. Shet, President (Postgraduate Studies); Mr Nabhan Muzaffar, President (Undergraduate Studies); and Mr Ashton Louis Vas, Cabinet Secretary.
In his address, Mr Eshwar Shetty congratulated the students on becoming part of one of Mangaluru’s most prestigious institutions. Addressing the newly elected Student Cabinet members, he encouraged them to create a lasting legacy by embracing opportunities and contributing meaningfully to the growth of the institution. He urged them to be innovative and creative in today’s AI-driven digital era, emphasising the importance of developing unique skills that would distinguish them from others.

Drawing inspiration from the exemplary leaders of Dakshina Kannada who have brought recognition to Mangaluru through their achievements, he encouraged the students to strive for excellence and leadership. He also appreciated the meticulous planning and execution of the inaugural ceremony and extended his best wishes to the newly installed Student Cabinet for a successful and impactful tenure.
Among the other dignitaries present were Sr Dr M. Prem D’Souza A.C., Joint Secretary of St Agnes Institutions; Sr Dr M. Vinora A.C., Superior of the Convent and PG Coordinator; Sr Dr Roopa Rodrigues A.C., Vice Principal and Staff Coordinator of the Student Council; Mrs Shubharekha, Controller of Examinations; and Dr Sabina D’Souza, IQAC Coordinator.
The ceremony was convened by Dr Soniya Lobo, Head of the Department of Botany, with Mrs Helen Serrao, Head of the Department of Chemistry, serving as Co-convenor. Ms Aishwarya and Ms Raveena Mascarenhas, Assistant Professors in the Department of English, introduced the members of the Student Cabinet.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Neha Bangera, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry. The programme concluded with the rendering of the College Anthem.
