Ladyhill School (ICSE) Celebrates Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with Faith and Devotion
Mangaluru, July 15: Ladyhill School (ICSE), Urwa, joyfully celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 14 at the Golden Jubilee Memorial Hall with a prayerful and vibrant programme centred on the theme, “Walking in Mary’s Footsteps, Growing in Faith and Virtues.” The celebration, presented by the students of Grades VI C and VII C, highlighted the virtues of Mother Mary through inspiring performances and reflections.
The celebration was graced by Sr Melissa A.C., Principal of Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill, and Joint Secretary, as the chief guest. Other dignitaries included Sr Maria Kripa A.C., Principal; Sr Teena A.C., Administrator; Sr Ida Barboza A.C., Vice Principal; Tr Lavita Correa, KG Coordinator; Sr Marline A.C.; and Sr Reema A.C. The kindergarten children welcomed the guests with roses, adding warmth and innocence to the occasion.
The programme commenced with a prayer service and Marian hymn, followed by a graceful welcome dance. Principal Sr Therese Teena A.C. honoured the chief guest with a sapling, symbolising growth, gratitude and environmental care. The gathering was welcomed by Yukthi J. Amin and Karen Fiona Lasrado.
A major highlight of the celebration was the dance drama, “In Mary’s Footsteps: Living the Carmelite Virtues,” which beautifully portrayed the virtues of humility, faith, obedience, purity, patience, charity, courage and prayerfulness through narration, music and expressive performances. The kindergarten children delighted the audience with a lively dance to the hymn “Goodness of God,” while a festal song dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel added to the devotional atmosphere.
In her address, Sr Melissa A.C. reflected on the significance of the Brown Scapular, recalling an incident from World War I that illustrated Mary’s loving protection. She encouraged students to practise the Carmelite virtues in their daily lives and grow into compassionate and faith-filled individuals.
The programme also featured the felicitation of students who excelled in academics, sports, school competitions and ICSE Zonal-level events. The awards were announced by Tr Rosely D’Costa and presented by the dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Sr Teena A.C. appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers of Grades VI C and VII C for organising the meaningful celebration. She encouraged the students to emulate Mother Mary’s virtues of faith, humility, love and service and extended feast greetings to the entire Ladyhill family.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Mythili T. Kotian and Shannan John Pinto, while the programme was compered by Prayukth N. Acharya, Ethel D’Souza, Vamshi G., Khush Naveen Kanchan, Shlok, Angeline, Aden Fernandes and Abhijna G. Shetty.
The celebration concluded on a prayerful and joyous note, inspiring the school community to walk in Mary’s footsteps and live lives rooted in faith, compassion and service.
