Mount Carmel Central School Celebrates School Feast and 158th Foundation Day of Apostolic Carmel
Mangaluru, July 15: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, celebrated the School Feast of Mary, Mother of Mount Carmel, along with the 158th Foundation Day of the Apostolic Carmel, with devotion and enthusiasm on July 15 in the school auditorium.
Centred on the theme “Under Mother’s Mantle, We Grow Together,” the celebration reflected the values of faith, unity, compassion and love, inspiring the school community to seek the guidance and protection of Mother Mary.
The programme was hosted by the students of Grade IX C, D and E, while Trisha, Pranav, Riyon, Venetia, Sudhamshu and Ashni compered the event. The celebration began with a prayer service followed by a graceful welcome dance. Andrea and Dianne welcomed the gathering and the chief guest, Dr Sr Clare A.C., retired Principal of St Ann’s College of Education, Mangaluru, along with the Principal, sisters, postulants, staff and students.

The cultural programme featured a choir presentation and a dance drama portraying the significance of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the vision of St Simon Stock, and the mission of the Apostolic Carmel Sisters in education and compassionate service. The presentation was narrated by Riya, Palak and Sanidhya.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sr Clare A.C. described Mother Mary as an “ocean of qualities” and encouraged students to cultivate faith, prayer, compassion and attentive listening. She also reflected on the life of Mother Veronica, Foundress of the Apostolic Carmel, highlighting how she embodied Marian virtues through her life of humility, service and dedication.
In her address, Principal Sr Melissa A.C. narrated an inspiring story emphasising trust in God and explained the acronym CARMEL, representing the values of Care, Acceptance, Respect, Mercy, Endurance and Love, encouraging students to live these virtues in their daily lives.

The chief guest presented prizes to the winners of competitions conducted during June and on the occasion of the School Feast. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mihika and Reema.
The celebration concluded with the singing of the Mother of Carmel Hymn, leaving the gathering inspired by the spirit of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the legacy of the Apostolic Carmel.
The festivities continued in the evening with a staff gathering. Tr Jenitha led the prayer, while Principal Sr Melissa welcomed the staff. Administrator Sr Carissima delivered an inspiring message, urging teachers to continue their mission with dedication, unity and compassion. Fun-filled games conducted by Tr Neetha added to the celebrations, which concluded with refreshments and fellowship.
