Vidvath PU College Hosts Anti-Drug Awareness Programme
“Protect Your Precious Life by Staying Away from Addiction”
Belthangady, June 23: An anti-drug awareness programme was organised at Vidvath PU College, Guruvayanakere, on June 23 by the Belthangady Sub-Division of the Dakshina Kannada District Police in association with the college.
Inaugurating the programme, Belthangady Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rohini C.K. urged students to stay away from narcotic substances and all forms of addiction. She emphasized that drug abuse can ruin lives and negatively impact families and society.
Addressing the students, she said that while teachers may not always be aware if a student has fallen into addiction, friends often notice such changes first. She encouraged students to immediately inform the concerned authorities, teachers, or the principal if they suspect any of their peers are involved in substance abuse, thereby helping them receive timely assistance and guidance.

Rohini C.K. also highlighted the Police Department’s Sanghamitra scanner technology, which helps identify individuals involved in substance abuse and facilitates efforts to rehabilitate them and bring them back into the mainstream of society.
She reminded students that their parents make great sacrifices to provide them with quality education and advised them to remain focused on their studies and future goals. She further informed the gathering that information related to drug abuse could be reported through the Child Helpline 1098 or the emergency helpline 112.
The programme was presided over by Prajwal Rai, Secretary of Vidvath PU College.
Among those present were Circle Police Inspector Ravi B.S., Police Sub-Inspector Anand M., Principal Balakrishna Naik, and Student Welfare Officer Anushree.
Lecturer Ajith Kumar compered the programme and delivered the vote of thanks.
