Young Carmelites of Mount Carmel Central School Celebrate Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Mangaluru, July 14: The kindergarten and primary students of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, celebrated the Feast of Mary, Mother of Mount Carmel, the Patroness of the School, with deep devotion, gratitude, and vibrant cultural performances in the school auditorium, honouring the rich spiritual heritage of the Carmelite family.
The celebration began with a solemn prayer service. Students welcomed the gathering in several international languages, symbolising the universality of the Carmelite family united in faith across the world. A graceful welcome dance beautifully portrayed the virtues of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, including wisdom, empathy, love, compassion, obedience, mercy, and service.
The gathering was welcomed by students Manvitha, Aiden, and Raiza, who greeted the Chief Guest, Sr Maria Nidhisha AC, Superior of Maryhill Convent, Mangaluru, along with Administrator Sr Carissima, Superior of Vijayamari Convent Sr Reshma D’Souza, coordinators, teachers, parents, and students.
A major highlight of the programme was the skit, “The Light of Carmel,” which vividly depicted the life of St Simon Stock and the divine gift of the Brown Scapular through engaging narration, expressive performances, an angel dance, and soulful musical interludes. The audience was further enthralled by a vibrant celebration dance and a melodious group song dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

In her address, Chief Guest Sr Maria Nidhisha AC reflected on the significance of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and encouraged the students to imbibe the Marian virtues of humility, faith, compassion, and courage. She urged them to become beacons of hope through prayer, kindness, and a commitment to truth.
Sr Reshma D’Souza appreciated the students and teachers for presenting a meaningful programme that beautifully celebrated the rich heritage and spiritual legacy of the Carmelite Order.
The celebration also featured a prize distribution ceremony recognising the winners of various competitions conducted in preparation for the School Feast.
The programme was meticulously organised and presented by the students and mentors of Grades IV A, IV B, and IV C. It was compered by Swasthi, Vihaan, Swarah, Poojya, Radon, and Ishaanvi, while Sharvi and Hridhaan proposed the vote of thanks.
The celebration concluded on a joyous note with a grand finale hymn in honour of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, followed by warm wishes for a happy School Feast.
