‘Beyond Borders’ Session Guides Students on Global Education and Career Opportunities at St Philomena Autonomous College, Puttur
Puttur, July 2: St Philomena Autonomous College, Puttur, organised a special guidance programme titled “Beyond Borders – A Guide to Higher Education and Global Career Opportunities,” providing students with comprehensive insights into overseas education and international career prospects.
The resource person, Mr Shaun Peter Joseph, Business Development Executive at Global Reach, Mangaluru, spoke extensively on higher education opportunities abroad, leading international universities, scholarship schemes, admission and visa procedures, student life overseas, and emerging trends in the global job market. He emphasised that academic excellence alone is not sufficient for global success and highlighted the importance of communication skills, leadership qualities, problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Presiding over the programme, Rev. Dr Anthony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the college, said that contemporary education should not merely produce graduates but nurture competent professionals capable of competing on the global stage. He observed that success in international education and employment requires a balanced combination of knowledge, skills, values, and self-confidence. Such guidance programmes, he said, play a vital role in broadening students’ perspectives and preparing them for global opportunities.
He further noted that St Philomena Autonomous College has consistently organised quality academic and career-oriented programmes to promote students’ holistic development and enhance their awareness of global educational and professional avenues.

Dr Edwin S. D’Souza, IQAC Coordinator, welcomed the gathering and explained the objectives of the programme. Poojashree compered the event, while Dr Edwin S. D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme was coordinated with the support of Dr Vinayachandra, Registrar (Evaluation), and Mr Abhishek Suvarna, Deputy Registrar (Evaluation).
A large number of students actively participated in the interactive session, engaging with the resource person and clarifying their queries regarding overseas education and global career opportunities. The programme helped students gain greater clarity, confidence, and a broader perspective on pursuing higher education and building successful international careers.

In a message on the occasion, Very Rev. Dr J. B. Saldanha, Correspondent of St Philomena Autonomous College, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing students who aspire to excel on the global stage.
“Education today should not be confined to earning a degree; it must shape individuals who can confidently perform anywhere in the world. Young people equipped with knowledge, skills, values, and leadership qualities are the nation’s greatest asset. Students should recognise global opportunities and expand the horizons of their aspirations. St Philomena Autonomous College remains committed to providing quality education, value-based personality development, a research-oriented outlook, and a global perspective to transform every student into a world-class professional. We firmly believe that the day is not far when our students will establish themselves in prestigious universities, research institutions, and global workplaces across the world,” he said.
