St Agnes College Holds 13th Graduation Day; 647 Students Receive Degrees
Mangaluru, June 27: St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, celebrated its 13th Graduation Day on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Mother Mary Aloysia Centenary Auditorium. The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the graduating batch of 2022–2025, with 647 students from undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, and MCA programmes receiving their degrees.
The programme commenced with a soulful rendition of the Karnataka State Anthem (Nadageethe) by the College Choir. Dr. Deviprabha Alva, Associate Professor of Commerce, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. Sr. Maria Naveena A.C., Provincial Superior of the Apostolic Carmel, Karnataka Province, and Sr. Dr. Marie Prem D’Souza A.C., Joint Secretary of St Agnes Institutions, honoured the dignitaries with saplings as a symbol of respect and gratitude.
The Graduation Day was formally inaugurated by Sr. Maria Naveena A.C. Mrs. Shubha Rekha, Controller of Examinations, presented 470 undergraduate, 68 postgraduate, and 109 MBA and MCA candidates for the conferment of degrees. Thereafter, the Principal, Sr. Dr. M. Venissa A.C., administered the Graduation Oath, reaffirming the graduates’ commitment to uphold the values of knowledge, integrity, and service.

Delivering the Graduation Day address, the Chief Guest, Prof. S. R. Niranjana, Vice Chairman of the Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) and former Vice Chancellor of Gulbarga University, congratulated the graduates on their academic achievement. He highlighted the importance of higher education in shaping responsible citizens and stressed the need for multidisciplinary learning, critical thinking, innovation, research, and skill development in line with the National Education Policy.
He encouraged students to cultivate communication skills, leadership, emotional intelligence, digital and artificial intelligence literacy, teamwork, creativity, and lifelong learning to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving world. Referring to India’s achievements in science, technology, research, and innovation, he urged the graduates to contribute to nation-building through knowledge, ethical values, and excellence. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening the quality, accessibility, and inclusiveness of higher education to achieve sustainable development and realise India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
In her Presidential Address, Sr. Maria Naveena A.C. described graduation as the beginning of a new phase in life and encouraged the graduates to pursue their dreams with confidence, remain rooted in strong values, and serve society with commitment and compassion.
Sr. Dr. Vinora A.C., PG Coordinator, announced the names of the 22 rank holders, who were felicitated with Rank Certificates and cash prizes in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.
The names of the graduates from the various faculties were announced by Mrs. Shanthi Nazareth, Dean of Administration; Dr. Kavyashree, Dean of PG Studies; Dr. Meera Devi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Mrs. Vidya Patali, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Mrs. Chethana, Dean of Commerce, Management and Business Administration; and Dr. Sabina, IQAC Coordinator.
The programme was compered by Mrs. Helen Serrao, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, while Dr. Mallika Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of MBA, proposed the vote of thanks.
Among the dignitaries present were Sr. Dr. Maria Sudeepa A.C., Educational Secretary of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation; Sr. Dr. Rose Agnes A.C., Assistant Provincial Superior; Sr. Dr. Roopa A.C., Vice Principal; Sr. Dr. M. Vinora A.C., Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies and Superior of St Agnes Convent; Mrs. Shubha Rekha, Controller of Examinations; Dr. Sangappa, Head of the Department of Physics representing Mangalore University; and Academic Council members Prof. Paul Gerald and Mr. Santhosh Rebello.
The ceremony concluded with Sr. Maria Naveena A.C. formally declaring the 13th Graduation Day closed, followed by the National Anthem. The memorable event was attended by distinguished guests, members of the Governing Body, Boards of Studies and Examinations, faculty members, parents, and graduating students.
