St Philomena College (Autonomous) Participants Excel in Taluk-Level Essay Competition
Puttur, July 4: Students and a staff member of St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, brought laurels to the institution by securing honours in the taluk-level essay competition organised as part of the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking – 2026.
The competition was jointly organised by the Dakshina Kannada District Police, Puttur Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat, and Rotary Club Puttur Yuva to create awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the need to combat illicit drug trafficking.
In the students’ category, Shrividya N., a second-year B.Sc. student, secured the first prize for her essay on the adverse consequences of drug abuse. Diksha K.C., a second-year M.Sc. Physics student, received a consolation prize for her commendable performance.
In the general category, Mrs Leena Mendonsa, a member of the administrative staff, was awarded a consolation prize, adding to the institution’s achievements in the competition.
Congratulating the winners, the Principal of St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, lauded their accomplishment and appreciated their efforts in promoting the message of a drug-free society through thoughtful and impactful writing.
