YCS Diocese of Mangalore Organises EMPOWER 2K26 for Animators
Mangaluru, June 2026: The Young Catholic Students (YCS), Diocese of Mangalore, successfully organized EMPOWER 2K26 at St. Rita Church Hall, Cascia, bringing together YCS animators from across the Diocese for a day of formation, empowerment, and leadership development.
The programme was inaugurated by Msgr. Maxim L. Noronha, Vicar General of the Diocese of Mangalore, who highlighted the vital role played by YCS animators in shaping young people into responsible, faith-filled leaders. In his inaugural address, he encouraged the participants to continue their dedicated service to the youth and extended his best wishes for the success of the programme.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Msgr. Maxim L. Noronha, along with Rev. Fr. Roshan D’Cunha, YCS Director; Ms. Janet Pinto, Diocesan Coordinator; Mr. Ruben D’Souza, Animator; Ryan Mendonca, Diocesan President; and Sweedal D’Souza, Diocesan Secretary.
Rev. Fr. Rithesh Rodrigues, Parish Priest of Cascia and Guest of Honour, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of investing in the formation of young people. He noted that empowering youth at the right time is essential, as they are the future of both the Church and society.
The gathering was welcomed by Jeanne, while Joslyn compered the inaugural programme.
The event featured two informative sessions conducted by Ms. Vandana D’Souza and Mr. Elson D’Souza, offering valuable insights and practical guidance to the participants. A panel discussion led by Rev. Fr. Rupesh Madtha and Mr. Richard Alvares further enriched the programme, providing an interactive platform for learning, reflection, and sharing experiences.


The valedictory programme was graced by Rev. Fr. Naveen Pinto, Judicial Vicar and Convener of Pastoral Commissions, Diocese of Mangalore. In his address, he encouraged YCS students to have a clear vision and direction in life while remaining committed to their mission as responsible Catholic youth rooted in faith and service.

The programme concluded on a positive and inspiring note, motivating participants to continue their journey as committed leaders dedicated to faith, service, leadership, and social responsibility.
